The benefits of achieving healthy activism is making a difference, feeling good, and seeing the success in your cause being accomplished... without burning out.
In this Swedish study it reports that 6 hour work days is the sweet spot in productivity & happiness in workers. Now let's add your volunteer, philanthropy, or tithing hours to your 9-5 working hours. Is it more or less than 36 hours a week? This is a great way to monitor your good work hours to better manage your time & money. Below are more valuable information on how I've lasted years since 2016 in my community efforts.
I. Healing your environments:
The environments I've mentioned are the internal and external. How is your mind, body & home life? Start there. If we are combating unhealthy culture, mindsets, and actions we have to know how to do that within our own lives first.
I'm not saying this is going to be a walk in the park but it will be exactly what you need to be a stronger person in the world and lead by example which in turn makes you a better activist.
Your time & money is valuable. Organize them to save yourself from doing too much & spending too much while trying to do something impactful. You can download a good calendar and have it available on your homepage on your cell. You can try to stay within healthy working hours by tracking yourself on your schedule. If you need guidance with your finances, you can find how I do my thing here. I personally give myself $20/hr. through my 10% of my monthly income when it comes to action projects in the community and the rest goes to incredible nonprofits that transforms our state for the better.
III. Start small & start one thing at a time:
Starting small is important, especially when it comes to doing something different. Start on what you would like to see more of in our area. We already have tried and true small yet mighty projects for every category on our Solutions Blog.
IV. Be a part of a working system:
Our group & so many great nonprofits in our area could use your help. Adding yourself to locations that may already support your cause is your best bet . Find them here and sign up below if you'd like to provide your services in our group. The right people gets projects done easier & faster.
