Accepting death doesn't mean you won't be devastated when someone you love dies. It means you will be able to focus on your grief, unburdened by bigger existential questions like, "Why do people die?" and "Why is this happening to me?" Death isn't happening to you. Death is happening to us all. -Caitlin Doughty Death is a natural part of our existence, although Alabama experiences it too much. We are one of the highest in our country for mortality rates. We need to own that and understand why it is so important to help others cope through it while we manage to fix those rates. We sometimes forget to heal after a passing. So we must deal, cope, and learn from it to gain the privilege to overcome and help prevent more tragedies from consuming others. What Can Be Done: Understand death & help others cope. The picture is a "Coping Kit" I made for a girlfriend of mine who had recently lost a loved one. If you'd like to make one too, here's what you'll need: a basket, something artsy, fun, supportive, & soothing. You can also give: •A good meal replacement. Something easy and nutritious like Garden of Life Raw Organic Meal. •A punching bag •Art kit •Weighted Blanket •Money •And most importantly your love, presence, & support. Something that has personally helped me while dealing with a sudden loss & with time, got me out of that hole. Some other things that helped are:
